Transurethral Microwave
Thermotherapy is a minimally invasive BPH treatment. This technology
uses heat energy to shrink the enlarged prostate tissue thus alleviating
urinary symptoms. The treatment is done in the office and takes
approximately 45 minutes. With local anesthesia it is generally
well-tolerated by patients and most do not require post-treatment
catheterization. Due to the gradual effect of the heat energy,
most patients remain on their BPH medication for several weeks
while the prostate shrinks and symptoms improve.
